Edge - Serrated |
This blade style has teeth or ridges along the edge to provide increased cutting surfaces and more bite similar to a saw. This popular blade style has several advantages over plain edge blades. First, it is easier to make sawing cuts through hemp, nylon, or other fibrous materials with a serrated edge. Second, serrated blades cut better when they are dull than plain edge blades. Serrated edges also have several disadvantages compared to plain edge blades. They are much more difficult to sharpen due to the blade irregularities. Given the number of professional knife sharpening professionals plying their trade at gun shows, hunting and fishing exhibitions, flea markets, and other locations, this problem has a solution. Next, serrated blades do not work as well for precision cuts, carving, and whittling. |
