Fuller

A shallow groove or channel running most of the length of the blade which lightens the blade as well as improves it's strength and flexibility. A sword may have one or more on one or both sides of the blade. It is sometimes called a blood-groove even though it has nothing to do with blood flow, cutting power, or whether the blade with stick.
