The sharpened portion of the blade. Blades are finished with numerous edges for special applications, though they typically fall into three main categories. As with most aspects of blade design, the edge style should be selected based on the user?s preferences. Asword may be single or double-edged. (A Japanese katana has a single edge but a Scottish claymore is sharpened on both sides.) |
